I've used those before… you might be able to get away without altering it at all.  It doesn't exactly look like a real life shield but for function it works I suppose.  Its soft on all sides so I don't see the issue.  Just make sure it doesn't have any Out of Game labels on it.  Also, wait for an official ruling.
